Avoiding Plagiarism Workshop

This workshop provides an overview on the various forms of academic dishonesty regarding plagiarism. Participants will learn when, where, and why it is important to cite properly. Students will also learn how to avoid plagiarism and the information presented will stress the need to attribute work to the original author and the potential outcomes for plagiarizing. A Symposium at UCLA October 1-3, 2026 This three-day symposium welcomes scholars, practitioners, and students to join the international Black Opera Research Network (BORN) for papers, a workshop, a performance, and the North American premiere of an opera film. Highlights include a performance by composer Yvette Janine Jackson and her Radio Opera Workshop ensemble; a presentation on the launch of BORN’s Black Opera Critical Editions series; and a screening of the South African opera film Nkoli: A Fierce and Fabulous Life, about anti- Apartheid and AIDS activist Simon Nkoli, with an introduction by the composer and music director. PAA Dribble for Victory Over Cancer Reception

@ UCLA Pilipino Alumni Association (PAA) is thrilled to once again be joining this year’s Dribble for Victory Over Cancer, UCLA’s joint fundraiser with the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation and V Foundation for Cancer Research to raise funds for pediatric cancer research at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital. Participants will raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer research while dribbling through Drake Stadium. Individuals, families, clubs and teams will have the opportunity to meet college basketball players, coaches and alumni while giving kids and their families battling cancer a chance for a brighter tomorrow. This is the fourth year PAA is co-sponsoring a team named “Team Richard Lou Contreras PAAmilya” with PAA board member Aimee Contreras-Camua, in memory of her brother, who passed away from aplastic anemia at 15 years of age. Last year, our team ranked in the top 3 and had the opportunity to take a team photo with the UCLA Men’s and Champion Women’s Basketball teams.
